Twitter users are denouncing a post by Stacey Abrams calling herself the "future governor," comparing it to Hillary Clinton’s infamous "future president" tweet right before her election loss to former President Donald Trump.

Abrams, who is taking another shot at attempting to unseat Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, posted a childhood school picture of herself on Instagram and Twitter on Tuesday evening that contained the words, "Little Miss future governor of the great state of Georgia."

The posts by Abrams further included memes calling herself "Little Miss Trekkie," "Little Miss Yale-trained tax attorney," "Little Miss high school valedictorian," "Little Miss House Democratic leader," "Little miss small business owner" and "Little Miss One Georgia for all."

Twitter users quickly compared Abrams’ "future governor" post to Clinton’s October 2016 tweet wishing herself a happy birthday with a childhood picture.

"Happy birthday to this future president," the then-Democratic presidential nominee wrote 13 days before her upset defeat to Trump.

Kemp's campaign joined in on the Twitter pile-on by using the "Little Miss" meme template to highlight how donors outside Georgia have mostly funded her campaign. A recent Axios report announced that Abrams' campaign received just 14% of its campaign funds from Georgia-based donors, compared to 86% outside the state in places like California, New York and D.C.

Clinton endorsed Abrams’ gubernatorial campaign in December, announcing, "I’m with @StaceyAbrams. Are you?"

Abrams has shown optimism regarding winning in November over Kemp multiple times on Twitter in recent months, starting earlier this month that "we can — and will — win this election." She has further tweeted that she will be the "next governor," which came back to haunt her after she made similar comments in 2018 before almost losing to Kemp.

The results track close to the averages of polling compiled so far by FiveThirtyEight, which show Warnock barely up 1% and Kemp up nearly 6%.

Both Democrats are also polling better with women voters. Though Walker is trailing Kemp, 36% of his followers identify as female. 41% of those backing Kemp were women.
