Watch: Crime Infested Chicago Hit With Another Shooting

Four people were shot in Chicago early Saturday near the west side of the city, according to local police.

An unknown person jumped from a black truck that had closed in on a group of people standing near East Garfield Park around 1:45 a.m. local time and began shooting, police said, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Until now, there are no reports of anyone being taken into custody for the shooting, and the reason for the attack is unknown.

The outlet reported that the shooting victims varied in age from 32 to 40 and had been taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment. The incident took place at the 2700 block of West Jackson Boulevard.

A man, 37, was hit in the right shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center in good condition; a man, 40, was grazed in the right hand and taken to Mount Sinai in good condition; a woman, 32, was shot in the back and taken to Mount Sinai in good condition; and a woman, 40, was grazed in the leg and went Norwegian Hospital.

There have been at least three other mass shootings in the area since the end of April, according to the newspaper.

Shooting incidents in Chicago seem to be in better shape compared to last year, according to data from the Chicago Police Department. From the start of the year until July 22, there have been 1,422 shootings. This marks a 19% decrease from the 1,758 shootings reported during the same time frame in 2021, per the department.

At least three other mass shootings have occurred in the West Garfield area since the end of April.

•    On July 1, about a mile and a half away, four people were injured when a man walking on Springfield Avenue took out a gun and began shooting at Monroe Street, police said.
•    On May 29, about 2 1/2 miles away, five people aged from 16 to 33 were on a sidewalk in the 800 block of South Karlov Avenue when there was a fight and an exchange of gunfire, police said. The crowd had gathered near a Lawndale elementary school to mark the death of another teenager who was killed by gunfire two years earlier.
•    On April 27, also about 2 1/2 miles away, four people were standing on a sidewalk in the 4400 block of West Jackson Boulevard when someone shot from a white sedan, police said.

No one was killed in the attacks.
