Former presidential candidate and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D) took to Twitter on Friday to deliver a message to her "fellow Dems" advising them on ways to turn things around.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard told fellow Democrats Friday they must end their "open-border policy" and "respect" Americans instead of "trying to divide us by the color of our skin."

"My fellow Dems: if you want people to vote for you, stop calling millions of Americans dogs—only dogs respond to 'dog whistles'. Stop trying to divide us by the color of our skin. End your open-border policy. Treat us all with the respect we deserve as Americans & God’s children."

Gabbard, a former Democratic presidential candidate, has recently condemned multiple actions by the Biden administration and the Democratic Party, including the rocky withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.

This particular tweet comes in the wake of what many are calling a catastrophic loss for the Democratic party, as a Republican candidate took the Virginia governorship on Tuesday. Hence, Tulsi opens up with "if you want people to vote for you."

When she says, "stop trying to divide us by the color of our skin," she is likely referring to a recent drive by Democrats to disseminate a Pew Research poll which does exactly that, dividing native Spanish-speakers by skin color and segmenting their experiences.

Likewise, Tulsi refers to ending the "open-border policy." This is another current and controversial issue. In real terms, illegal migration to the US has surged since Biden took office as president.

The immigrants are arriving in Mexico from all around the globe, trying to cross illegally into the US, immediately turning themselves into authorities, and taking advantage of the "catch and release" policy which was reinstated by the Biden administration.

In the 2020 race, Gabbard announced that she would end her presidential campaign, formally winnowing the 2020 Democratic field to a two-man race between former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“Today, I’m suspending my presidential campaign and offering my full support to Vice President Joe Biden in his quest to bring our country together,” Gabbard said in a video statement posted online.

The Hawaii lawmaker faced significant criticism for her seemingly quixotic decision to stay in the race beyond the early nominating contests, and finishes her campaign with only two pledged delegates — less than several of her former rivals who dropped out weeks ago.

But Gabbard, long a controversial figure within the Democratic field, had little to lose after declaring in October that she would not seek reelection to a fifth term in Congress, a prospect complicated by a formidable primary challenger and thorny relationships with other Hawaii politicians.

In endorsing Biden, Gabbard has said that “although I may not agree with the vice president on every issue, I know that he has a good heart, and he’s motivated by his love for our country and the American people.”
