A gaggle of far-Left environmental activists followed Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) from his D.C. houseboat to his car Thursday morning and attempted to prevent him from leaving a parking garage. This is the latest fit of Progressive pique over Manchin’s current opposition to the multi-trillion-dollar Democratic social spending bill.
"WE WANT TO LIVE! WE WANT TO LIVE!" they screamed at him as he strolled to Capitol Hill.

According to Newsweek, the activists are with the Sunrise Movement. They were motivated by the continued blockage in support from West Virginia’s Senator until he knew more about what’s in the Build Back Better bill.
It’s not the only moment of friction caught on film. A TikTok from "hungry4 climate justice" was posted eight hours ago.

The TikTok video is straightforward. "We tried to block Joe Manchin’s car and he tried to run us over," says the description. You can see several activists in front of the Senator’s vehicle blocking its path forward. One of them has a banner.

The car inches forward slowly as activists push back against the hood. "We want to live! We want to live!" the small crowd shouts out repeatedly. Manchin’s vehicle escapes.

Earlier this week, Progressive Squad member Cori Bush called Manchin a racist for not jumping on board to support the Build Back Better bill immediately.
Manchin and his Senate colleague, Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), have been targets of persistent harassment over their objections to the $1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act. The Act provides funding for programs meant to counter climate change as well as a dramatic expansion of the social safety net.

“It is *literally* violence to block someone’s lawful, free movement,” tweeted Ellen Carmichael, head of PR firm The Lafayette Company. “They should all be arrested.”
When asked by The Post whether Manchin, Sinema, or members of their staff had experienced an uptick in threats to their safety during the debate over the legislation, U.S. Capitol Police responded: “We cannot discuss potential threats or potential security plans.”
