Sen. Ted Cruz proposed an amendment to the latest round of coronavirus relief funding that would bar illegal immigrants from getting stimulus checks but the democrats shot it down as the bill narrowly passed the senate - giving billions to prisoners and illegal aliens.

“Not only does this COVID bill fail to address the real needs of the American people who are suffering, but it hands out billions in taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants,” the Texas Republican’s office stated.

Cruz’s office maintains that the amendment would save taxpayers approximately $8 billion.

“Congress should come together to pass my amendment to stop this,” Cruz went on. “We need to stand for the American people, get our kids back to school, and reopen our small businesses.”

Democrats have been extensively criticized by Republicans for efforts to include benefits for illegal immigrants in many coronavirus relief rounds, and in California, Democrats have pushed through a program to send checks to illegal immigrants as part of a $7.6 billion virus relief package, and the whole 1.9 trillion package.

For example, through a hearing in February, Smith remarked that only nine percent of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus bill goes towards vaccinations.

“Democrats are rushing to pass a nearly $2 trillion spending bill that will enact bailouts for state governments that lock down their citizens and radical policies that will destroy jobs and raise the cost of living for working-class Americans,” Smith stated Sunday.
