The New York City Police Department (NYPD) recently unveiled a video featuring a professional "protest consultant" who was previously seen in social media videos instructing a group of anti-Israel demonstrators as they occupied Hamilton Hall at Columbia University on Monday night.

During a press conference on Tuesday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams addressed the issue of external agitators. "What should have been a peaceful protest has essentially been taken over by professional outside agitators," he stated. Adams explained that the city had been cautious about releasing intelligence information, as their primary objective was to ensure the safety of students and faculty, and to prevent property damage.

"We have previously warned about external actors who have tried to take over this private protest," Adams added. He and his administration shared details about these external actors who were causing "serious public safety issues" at the demonstrations.

Adams clarified, "These external actors are clearly not students, and their presence on campus contravenes Columbia’s explicit policy." He described the group as an outside agitator with a history of exacerbating situations and inciting chaos. "We believe they are now actively taking over what should be a peaceful gathering to serve their own agenda. They are not here to promote peace or unity or to allow a peaceful expression of one's voice. They are here to sow discord and division."

The mayor urged anyone involved to disengage immediately. The NYPD revealed during the press conference that some of the external agitators have been known to them for years. They noted an escalation in tactics they believe are influenced by these agitators, such as constructing barricades from furniture, destroying cameras, employing de-arresting tactics, damaging property, and using signs to fortify and create shields.

The police anticipate that these tactics, which were prominently displayed at Columbia University, will continue to be used at universities across New York City and nationwide.

The video presented during the press conference showed 63-year-old Lisa Fithian, a professional "protest consultant," observing a group of protesters chanting anti-Israel slogans. Fithian, who has been arrested over 80 times, has reportedly participated in protests on climate change, Occupy Wall Street, and now, the Free Palestine movement, according to Laura Ingraham of "The Ingraham Angle."

Footage captured after midnight on Tuesday showed Fithian instructing a group of anti-Israel demonstrators as they occupied a building at Columbia University.

During "The Ingraham Angle" on Tuesday, Ingraham discussed Fithian and her role in training a new generation of activists with Ira Stoll, the founder and editor of theeditors.com. Stoll revealed that some of the individuals involved in these protests are being paid. He referenced a recent article he wrote for The Wall Street Journal about groups advertising for fellows to be paid $3,000 to work eight hours a week for three months on campuses across the U.S.

"Some of the people who have been quite prominent in these protests have been paid fellows with hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Soros Open Society Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund," Stoll said, highlighting the significant financial backing behind these protests.

Stoll also noted that many of the individuals participating in the anti-Israel protests at campuses like Columbia University are the same people who attend Black Lives Matter and anti-Trump protests. "It’s the same people out protesting. I’ve seen them," Stoll said. "They just like to protest." He likened it to people who spend their weekends playing sports or attending religious services.

"This is an activity for these people, and until the revolution is accomplished, they’re not going to stop, or else until they are in jail," he concluded.
