“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate,” Biden wrote in a tweet Tuesday. Harris has been known as a fierce antagonist of the Trump administration.
Kamala wrote about Biden, “he can unify the American people because he's spent his life fighting for us. And as president, he'll build an America that lives up to our ideals. I'm honored to join him as our party's nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief"
Harris will be the filling a whole bucket list for the democratic party ,being the first Asian American and the first Black vice president if elected. Its seems that naturally Kamala's ethnicity had a doing with Biden's choice, in his mind her color literally being an antidote to trump.
Harris, 55, has had a personal relationship with Biden, being close with his late son Beau, a fellow former state attorney general. Biden nodded at Harris after mentioning her relationship with his son in announcing his selection Tuesday.
President Obama thought Biden made a fine choice picking Harris, tweeting that Biden had "nailed the decision" President Trump on the other hand said he was "surprised " by Biden's choice, based on her early fallout from the primaries.
“It’s hard to pick somebody that’s that disrespectful,” Trump said, adding: “I thought she was the meanest, the most horrible, most disrespectful of anybody in the U.S. Senate."
While Harris has cultivated the Bay Area’s wealthy and connected, she had also tried to connect to the other less fortunate areas of California, visiting churches and community centers all over.
However Six years after the district attorney’s race, Harris was again seen as an underdog in her campaign for state attorney general, Up against a popular district attorney from Los Angeles Republican Steve Cooley. Harris was even seen by some in her party as not worthy.
Being an anti-death penalty black woman is something that Kamala wears as a badge, with not much else in her pocket but anti trump statements and pretty non impressive standard uber-liberal policies.
It also looks like Biden was pressured to pick a running mate, and with that pressure combined with the need for more diverse ethnicity in his party the choice was made.
The fact is, with CNN saying Joe might ‘step aside’ for her, and with 57% of Americans believing Joe will not fill out the four year term, the likelihood of the first Black Woman president is more real and close should Joe Biden win, than when Hillary ran in 2016 trying to be the first female leader of this country.
