Her show, The Ingraham Angle, which has been on air since October 2017 at 10 pm, had gained a large number of spectators, resulting in a boost in ratings, reaching and passing Maddow’s mark: 3 million viewers. Maddow was known as the most-watched host.
Maddow, who is a Socialist and frequently discusses issues regarding President Donald Trump, may be experiencing this downfall because of this tendency.
All of Ingraham’s night shows since December 2019 have beaten Maddow’s audience quantity, as reported by Nielsen Media Research. Ingraham’s monthly ratings have remained constant at around 3 million evening viewers, a number she had not reached before.
Ingraham talked about her gratitude to the Washington Examiner, she said "We are all grateful to our sponsors and our loyal viewers, who trust us to analyze our politics and culture during these challenging and exciting times.
What we've been able to do at 10 o'clock is truly remarkable, and the record ratings are humbling," and added "Resting on our laurels is something we don't do, however, so it's onward and upward!"
Maddow’s program has been able to pick up with average audience sizes of around 3 million to 3.3 million watchers. Nonetheless, it still trails. In July, Ingraham outdone Maddow’s success by less than 100,000 viewers, which is the closer Maddow has been to Ingraham’s score.
While Ingraham’s June numbers decayed and Maddow’s topped, she did not stay behind and came back to her initial top position again. In that month, “The Ingraham Angle” had an average of 3.7 million viewers, of whom 720,000 were in the key demographic – ages from 25 to 54. As for Maddow, she scored around 3.1 million watchers, having 483,000 of that number in the key demo.
As for the channels themselves, they followed the same outcomes. Fox News Channel had its highest ratings during July, delivering an average of 3,219 million of spectators during its prime time – a rise of 32% compared to the same period of last year.
This way, Fox News also reached its opponent MSNBC, which had an audience of 2.4 million on its prime time, and then CNN finished the month in third place with a record of an average of 1.5 million viewers.
Fox News’s show Hannity was the highest-rated one, reaching an estimated number of 4096 million watchers. Then, Tucker Carlson Tonight followed getting the second place with 4020 million viewers, and in third place, Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle, with an audience of 3.415 million people.
Maddow’s show was the only non-Fox News program that finished July in the top five, with 3.339 million viewers.
