More than 300 workers at the Chevron oil company in London’s Canary Wharf business district were sent home over fears that an employee may have contracted the coronavirus, according to a new report.

The unidentified employee reported flu-like symptoms after returning from a country where the deadly bug is prevalent, Metro UK reported.

The American-based, multinational oil giant advised staff to work from home until the employee’s test results come back.

“Chevron continues to monitor the situation very closely, utilizing the guidance of international and local health authorities,” a company spokesperson told the outlet in a statement. “Our primary concern is the health and safety of our employees and we are taking precautionary measures to reduce their risk of exposure.”

Affected employees include traders, downstream analysts and office staff, according to The Financial Times.
