Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has diagnosed Hollywood star and outspoken progressive Mark Ruffalo with a severe case of “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” turning a private text spat into a pointed critique of the actor’s anti-Trump obsession.

According to Mediaite, Kennedy recounted the exchange during a podcast appearance with host Christian “Trick Trick” Mathis, explaining that Ruffalo had become furious over his support for President Donald Trump. “I was texting with Mark Ruffalo the other day, he’s very mad at me,” RFK Jr. said on the podcast, prompting a surprised Mathis to ask, “Incredible Hulk?”

Mathis burst out laughing when Kennedy confirmed he was indeed referring to the Marvel star, underscoring the widening gulf between Hollywood elites and those willing to work with Trump. “He’s got really bad Trump Derangement Syndrome,” RFK Jr. continued. “And one of the things he said [is] ‘You’re working for the stupidest man in America.’”

Kennedy acknowledged that many Democrats share Ruffalo’s contempt, and admitted he once underestimated Trump himself. “Now you can say a lot about Trump — and a lot of Democrats believe he’s stupid — and I actually at one point believed that. I believed he’s very superficial, he probably hasn’t read a book. Now that I know him, he has like an encyclopedic mind.”

RFK Jr. then offered a detailed defense of the president’s intellect, praising Trump’s breadth of knowledge across culture, sports, and finance. “He knows everything, he knows about music — he has these incredible [insights] about the musicians, he loves music. He loves theater. He knows everything about sports. He can out-talk you on every sport.”

Kennedy added that Trump’s command of markets and geopolitics is equally formidable, cutting against the caricature pushed by many on the left. “He knows everything about Wall Street, who made their money, how they made the money, what the deals look like. And then he knows foreign policy.”

The secretary recalled one flight with Trump in which the president, using his “very beautiful hand,” sketched a “perfect picture” of the Middle East, complete with troop strengths along national borders to illustrate his strategic thinking. That anecdote stands in stark contrast to Ruffalo’s long-running campaign to vilify Trump, which has included branding him a “pedophile,” a “convicted rapist,” and a “grifter,” and labeling the president “public enemy number one.”

Ruffalo has gone so far as to tell MS NOW that Trump had “made himself a king and dictator” during a 2025 “No Kings” rally, rhetoric that reflects the left’s tendency to equate strong conservative leadership with tyranny. Trump, for his part, has dismissed “whacked-out” protesters like Ruffalo, insisting last year, “I’m not a king — I work my ass off to make our country great, that’s all it is. I’m not a king, .”
