Trump International Airport triggered online claims that United Airlines would let passengers suffering from “TDS” reroute their flights for free to avoid the newly named facility. Those assertions, amplified on social media and in some early reports, suggested that United was quietly accommodating anti-Trump sentiment by allowing no-cost itinerary changes for those unwilling to pass through an airport bearing the 45th president’s name.

As reported by WND, United has now flatly rejected that narrative, stating the internal communication at the center of the flap was “poorly worded and not accurate.” A Fox report said the internal memo was obtained by Live And Let’s Fly and it told reservation agents to suggest no-cost alternatives, including nearby Fort Lauderdale or Miami airports, for TDS sufferers.

However, United told FOX Business the memo was “poorly worded and not accurate.” A report in the Washington Examiner said United was rejecting claims it “will allow passengers to change itinerary to avoid newly renamed Trump airport.”

The report said the name change came just days ago, after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a state legislature bill into law ordering the name change on March 30. The “leaked” memo suggested TDS sufferers were being offered an accommodation.

That memo reportedly suggested, “If a customer does not want to fly to the airport, use your empowerment to offer acceptable alternatives such as Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) or Miami International Airport (MIA).” Not right, the airline said.

The memo, in fact, was worded incorrectly and wasn’t entirely accurate. The airline said customers cannot change their airport simply because they do not like the facility’s name.
“United customers are able to make changes to a ticket without a fee for many reasons. However, our policy doesn’t allow for changes because of an airport’s name or three letter code,” United Media Relations said in the statement to the Washington Examiner. For all the noise generated by Trump Derangement Syndrome, United’s clarification underscores that corporate policy is not supposed to bend to partisan sensitivities, even as the renaming of a major airport in honor of President Trump continues to expose the left’s reflexive hostility to anything bearing his name.
