According to Gateway Pundit, Wu on Thursday signed “An Executive Order To Protect Bostonians From Unconstitutional and Violent Federal Operations,” a sweeping directive aimed squarely at federal immigration authorities. The order prohibits federal officials, including ICE agents, from using city-owned property for immigration enforcement operations, effectively attempting to wall off Boston’s public infrastructure from federal law enforcement.
Wu’s office claimed the measure is intended to “protect residents from illegal federal overreach, prioritizing de-escalation, and reaffirms that Boston will hold anyone accountable who commits violence, property damage, or any criminal conduct in the City, including federal officials.” In a statement obtained by WHDH, Wu declared, “The Order confirms that the Boston Police Department will investigate all crimes committed in Boston— including those committed by federal agents—and, if appropriate, we will make referrals to the City’s local law enforcement partners, the Suffolk County District Attorney and the Massachusetts Attorney General.”

She further boasted of new restrictions on federal immigration officers’ access to city spaces. “Additionally, the Order bars federal immigration agents from using City buildings, parking lots, and parks for their operations, bars immigration enforcement in non-public City spaces, and reaffirms that the City’s public buildings, including schools, libraries, senior centers, and community centers are available to residents for designated purposes only,” she continued.

Wu told reporters her executive order was prompted by federal immigration enforcement actions and the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, which she used to justify tightening local resistance to ICE. She also complained that ICE agents were wearing masks to safeguard their identities, refusing to identify themselves, racially profiling residents, and not using body cameras, echoing familiar progressive talking points against federal law enforcement.

ICE officers, however, appeared unfazed by the mayor’s political posturing and treated the order with the level of deference typically reserved for symbolic gestures. On Friday, ICE entered the Roslindale community in Boston to conduct enforcement activities and, during the operation, arrested an illegal alien from his vehicle after he apparently attempted to flee.

In a striking irony that underscores the limits of municipal grandstanding against federal authority, Roslindale happens to be the neighborhood where Wu herself resides. For many advocates of secure borders and the rule of law, the episode serves as a reminder that federal immigration enforcement will not be easily sidelined by local officials more interested in appeasing the radical left than protecting American citizens.
