A young woman in London has credited Barron Trump with helping to save her life after a brutal attack allegedly carried out by her ex-boyfriend.

The woman, whose identity is shielded under British law, delivered her account before a London jury in the trial of 22-year-old Matvei Rumianstev, who is accused of violently assaulting her. According to Western Journal, the case has drawn international attention because of the role played by the former president’s youngest son, who was thousands of miles away when the alleged assault occurred.

Barron, the court was told, contacted police in the United Kingdom after answering a FaceTime call and allegedly witnessing the woman being beaten by Rumianstev, who was reportedly enraged over her friendship with the then-president-elect’s son. “He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment,” the woman testified during cross-examination, describing the moment Barron intervened from abroad.

Defense lawyers for Rumianstev, a Russian national who lived in the East London development of New Providence Wharf, attempted to portray the woman as dishonest and vindictive. They claimed she had “invented this wholly untrue and fabricated account that he raped you on those two occasions — you were never raped,” and further alleged that she had been acting “in an angry and violent way” toward the defendant.

The woman firmly rejected those accusations, insisting that her allegations were truthful and serious. “I didn’t invent that. That would be completely evil and disgraceful toward people who have been in that situation,” she responded, pushing back against the defense’s narrative.

Jurors at Snaresbrook Crown Court heard the emergency call Barron Trump placed to British authorities on Jan. 18, 2025, after he received the disturbing FaceTime. In the recording, he told dispatchers that he had “got a call from a girl I know” and that “she’s getting beaten up,” prompting an urgent police response.

“The US President’s son contacted police in the UK after picking up a FaceTime call and seeing Matvei Rumianstev allegedly hitting the woman,” the Metro reported, underscoring the unusual cross-border nature of the intervention. “It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up,” Barron told police during the call, according to the evidence presented in court.

Body camera footage from responding officers was also played for the jury, providing a ground-level view of the aftermath. In the video, officers can be heard asking the victim whether Rumianstev had streamed any part of the attack and informing her that someone from the United States had contacted them, though they initially withheld his identity.

“I am friends with Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s son,” the woman told officers, clarifying the connection between her and the American caller. She then recounted the FaceTime call from Barron that came in the midst of the assault, explaining how that brief contact triggered the emergency response.

“So apparently this informant from America is likely to be Donald Trump’s son,” one officer is heard telling a colleague in the body cam footage, as the significance of the caller became clear. “This female is friends with Donald Trump’s son. She was on a FaceTime with him when this assault happened and he’s called us,” the officer added, summarizing the chain of events.

Police then asked the woman to call Barron back to confirm the details directly. “Hello, Barron — did you call the police or anything?” she can be heard asking during the follow-up call captured on video.

“I had someone call the police,” Barron replied, before explaining to officers what he had seen and heard. “She called me. I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something. I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming. I could see a guy’s head on the phone, and then the camera turns to her crying and getting hit,” he recounted.

Barron told police the FaceTime call lasted only 10 to 15 seconds, but it was long enough for him to realize the gravity of the situation. “I called you guys — that was the best thing I could do. I wasn’t going to call back and threaten things to him because that would just make the situation worse,” he added, reflecting a level-headed response rather than emotional escalation.

Rumianstev now faces serious charges under British law, including the equivalent of aggravated assault and intentional strangulation, along with two counts of rape and perverting the course of justice, comparable to obstruction of justice in the United States.

As the trial proceeds, the testimony has highlighted not only the brutality of the alleged crimes but also the decisive role played by a young American who chose to act swiftly rather than look away, a reminder that individual responsibility and moral courage still matter in an age too often defined by indifference.
