During a pre-recorded segment of ABC's "This Week," which aired on Sunday, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont expressed his discontent with a question posed by Jonathan Karl.

The inquiry centered on whether Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should consider a Senate run. Sanders, who had just praised Ocasio-Cortez as "extraordinary," refrained from providing a direct answer regarding her potential candidacy. This comes amid growing speculation about Ocasio-Cortez possibly challenging Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in a primary, following Schumer's backing of a government funding bill to avert a partial shutdown.

According to Fox News, Sanders, visibly frustrated, dismissed the question as "nonsense" and attempted to leave the interview. "Right now, we have, as I said, just a whole lot of people in the Congress. OK, Jonathan. Thanks," Sanders remarked as he stood up. Despite Karl's attempt to continue the conversation, Sanders retorted, "Well, I ask you – you know, you want to do nonsense, do nonsense. No, I don't want to talk about inside the Beltway stuff. I got 32,000 people," referring to the audience that attended an event in Denver with Ocasio-Cortez. Eventually, Karl persuaded Sanders to return to his seat, though Sanders remained reluctant to discuss the topic further.

When the conversation shifted to Sanders' own political future, the senator expressed satisfaction with his current role. "Right now, I am very proud that the people of the state of Vermont sent me back to the Senate with 63% of the vote," Sanders stated. "Right now I'm Vermont's senator. That's what I do, and I'm very happy to do it. I am 83 years of age, so. And I'm tired."

Meanwhile, Representative Ro Khanna of California weighed in on the matter during CNN's "State of the Union." When asked if he would support Ocasio-Cortez in a potential challenge against Schumer, Khanna emphasized her autonomy in making such a decision. "She's perfectly capable of making the decision," he commented. "She's got so many options. She's got an incredible future. You know, it's really her decision. But, you know, all I can say is there's real anger. And there would be a lot of support for her if she decided to do it."

The prospect of Ocasio-Cortez entering the Senate race underscores the ongoing tensions within the Democratic Party, as progressive voices continue to challenge the establishment. While Sanders remains focused on his duties as Vermont's senator, the political landscape is ever-evolving, with figures like Ocasio-Cortez at the forefront of potential change.
