Joe Maldonado-Passage, widely recognized as Joe Exotic, has made a bold appeal to President Donald Trump from behind bars, seeking clemency for himself and his fellow inmate and fiancé, Jorge Marquez.

The infamous figure from Netflix's Tiger King series reached out via X late Monday, advocating for his release. In a message seemingly directed at Trump, whom he has endorsed for the 2024 presidential race, Maldonado-Passage shared a photograph of himself and Marquez, both convicted felons. He wrote, “You could deport him at some point, but if you let me go, we’ll both go to Mexico, which will save you the cost of deporting him and allow you to take care of me.” He further emphasized, “No matter what happens, he’s my husband, and we’ll never abandon each other. This bond is that strong.”

According to The Daily Beast, Maldonado-Passage announced his engagement to Marquez in October 2024, expressing his ambition to secure a pardon from Trump. The American media personality, once at the helm of The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park in Oklahoma, is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence.

His conviction in 2020 stemmed from a series of charges, including two counts of murder-for-hire targeting animal rights activist Carole Baskin. Additionally, he faced eight counts for violating the Lacey Act due to falsified wildlife records and nine counts for breaching the Endangered Species Act.
