According to RedState, James is attempting to obstruct DOGE's mission to eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse. During her address, she made several misleading statements. She referred to Elon Musk, who was appointed as the head of DOGE by President Donald Trump, as a "private individual" who "no one elected," and "no one has allowed to have access" to certain information. She also stated that Musk was "not subject to any vetting," and was "untethered to any accountability at all."

James also made the erroneous claim that Social Security and veterans payments had been frozen, labeling it as unconstitutional and "ultra vias (sic)." It is likely that she intended to say "ultra vires," a legal term indicating an action that exceeds one's authority. She further alleged that Musk, Treasury officials, and Trump "is (sic) not above the law."

James's comments overlook the fact that Musk was officially appointed as the head of DOGE by the legitimately elected President Trump. Musk is a "special government employee," not a private citizen as James suggested. Contrary to her claims, Musk has undergone extensive vetting and holds top security clearance. This level of vetting likely surpasses that of regular employees who have access to the same information, none of whom were elected.

James also argued that the actions of DOGE constituted a "violation of separation of powers," and that they required congressional approval. This argument seems to undermine the president's authority to oversee his own executive branch. The crux of the issue appears to be an attempt to hinder the president from performing his duties and having his advisors do the same.
"It is up to us to prevent him [Elon Musk] from having access to that private information," James declared, revealing an intention to meddle in the executive branch's powers.
The misunderstanding of the law doesn't seem to lie with Musk or Trump. Perhaps James should consider the views of the American public, many of whom support Trump and Musk. However, James appears to disregard this sentiment.

While James is quick to discuss the "rule of law," she might want to consider the lawsuit filed against her and NY Governor Kathy Hochul by the Department of Justice regarding illegal immigration. Is she willing to address the "rule of law" in the context of New York's issues with illegal immigrants?

Rather than addressing these issues, James seems more interested in staging a theatrical attack on Trump and Musk. Whether she fails to understand or simply doesn't care, she appears to be on the wrong side of the argument. If she believes that this approach will enhance her national profile for future office, she may be sorely mistaken.
