House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) appointed Luna as the chairwoman of the "Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets," which will operate for a six-month period. Comer emphasized the need for transparency, stating, "For too long, the federal government has kept information of public interest classified, and the American people are demanding greater transparency. This secrecy has sowed distrust in our institutions." He further noted that the task force aims to "build on the Trump administration’s efforts to declassify records of national importance and ensure Americans get the answers they deserve."

The task force has already initiated its mission by reaching out to the State Department, Department of Energy, and the CIA for documents concerning the origins of COVID-19. President Donald Trump recently issued an executive order mandating the declassification of files related to JFK, RFK, and MLK, asserting, "Their families and the American people deserve transparency and truth. It is in the national interest to finally release all records related to these assassinations without delay."
