In a shocking revelation, Arizona officials have disclosed that a malfunctioning landing gear was the culprit behind the catastrophic runway accident involving a private jet owned by Vince Neil, the frontman of Mötley Crüe.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, led to the jet skidding uncontrollably off the runway and colliding with a parked private jet, resulting in the tragic death of the co-pilot.

The collision at Scottsdale Airport also left three individuals injured, including a second pilot and Rain Hannah, Neil's girlfriend, along with her companion. A fifth individual, who was in the parked jet at the time of the accident, declined medical assistance. Notably, Neil was not present on the plane during the incident.

"According to initial reports, the Learjet’s left main landing gear failed upon landing, leading to the collision," the City of Scottsdale announced in a statement on its website. "Airport operations staff and emergency personnel from Scottsdale Fire Station 609 responded to the scene within one minute of the collision." As reported by Fox News, remnants of the Learjet's wheels were found approximately 100 yards from the crash site.

The unfortunate victim of the crash was identified as 78-year-old Joie Vitosky by the Scottsdale Police Department. Vitosky, a certified flight engineer since 1978 and a pilot since 2019, hailed from Okemah, Oklahoma. His ex-wife, Ann Vitosky, shared with the Associated Press that he had joined the Marine Corps in his early twenties with a dream to fly. He served as a Marine Corps aviator, flying helicopters in Vietnam in 1969. After over a decade of service with the Marine Corps, he transitioned to flying Learjets.

"His passion was flying," Ann Vitosky said, adding that he died doing what he loved. The couple shared three children and four grandchildren.

The accident, which occurred at 2:39 p.m. local time, was captured in dramatic video footage. The out-of-control Learjet can be seen skidding along the tarmac at high speed before veering off the runway and crashing into a larger parked private jet, an Israel Aircraft Industries Gulfstream 200. The impact was so severe that it caused the front of the larger jet to lift and move forward.

Scottsdale Fire Capt. The aftermath of the crash left the Learjet's cockpit area almost completely caved in on its left-hand side. The two aircraft were separated by rescue crews later on Monday.

Eyewitness Gordan Johnson, a veteran in aviation for 35 years, told Fox 10 that he saw the front landing gear collapse and then watched the jet slide off the runway to the left.
