The Independent, a news outlet known for its extensive coverage of a range of topics from reproductive rights to climate change and Big Tech, is now focusing on the unfolding story of Jeffrey Epstein's "client list."

This list is expected to be among the documents declassified by a congressional task force, which has been tasked with revealing "federal secrets."

According to The Independent, the House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer, announced the establishment of this investigative unit on Tuesday. The task force, led by Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna, aims to publish materials related to federal government interests and bring an end to what Luna calls an "era of secrecy."

Luna, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, who has even advocated for his face to be carved into Mount Rushmore, stated that her team would not only release Epstein's contact list but also investigate the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the origins of Covid-19, the assassinations of former President John F Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and UFOs.

Luna, in her commitment to transparency, stated, "This will be a relentless pursuit of truth and transparency and we will not stop until the American people have the answers they deserve. We will cut through the bureaucracy, challenge the stonewalling, and ensure the American people finally get the truth they have been denied for too long."

The task force has issued eleven letters to top U.S. security and intelligence officials, including one to Attorney General Pam Bondi, requesting a briefing regarding "what documents (if any) are in your possession regarding the investigation into and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein."

The question remains whether Epstein's client list differs from his infamous black book, which includes high-profile figures such as former U.S. president Bill Clinton, tech mogul Bill Gates, and President Trump himself. None of these individuals have been accused of any wrongdoing.

Luna has stated that the task force will be open to both Republicans and Democrats. While the specifics of the investigation remain unclear, Luna has announced that the first hearing will be held in March.

This development follows President Trump's executive order last month to declassify records surrounding the assassinations of JFK, Senator Robert F Kennedy, and Dr Martin Luther King. This move has led to calls for the release of Epstein's elusive list.

James Comer, supporting the task force, stated, "This task force serves to build on President Trump’s actions. For far too long, the American people have had reasonable questions of what their government, which they fund every day, keeps hidden about certain issues. And for far too long, the federal government has not answered these questions."

However, skepticism remains among some GOP lawmakers, with Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett expressing doubts over the release of the client list, referring to the FBI as "crooked as a dog leg."

Epstein, who took his own life in a Manhattan prison in August 2019 while awaiting trial on new charges of trafficking teenage girls, has been a controversial figure. His former girlfriend, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, was prosecuted in 2021 for her role in recruiting underage victims and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Trump and Epstein, who were friends since the late 1980s, were known to fly together from LaGuardia to Palm Beach, Florida, where both men lived. They were also pictured partying together at Mar-a-Lago.

Flight logs released during the Ghislaine Maxwell trial show Trump flew with Epstein on his private jet, a Boeing 727 dubbed the "Lolita Express," multiple times. Epstein allegedly used this plane to transport young women between New York and his primary residence in Palm Beach, where many of his alleged acts of sexual abuse are said to have occurred.

Pam Bondi, Trump's newly appointed attorney-general, stated last week on Fox News, "We know he [Clinton] was on the plane, called the Lolita Express, multiple times. He has been a continued friend of his for many years." However, Clinton has denied these claims.

In contrast, Bondi pointed out that Trump had not spoken to Epstein for over a decade after he expelled him from Mar-a-Lago for inappropriate behavior. Trump has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein's abuse, stating, "I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you."

In a recent podcast interview, Trump reiterated that he had never visited Epstein's private Little St James in the U.S. Virgin Islands. When questioned about his hesitation to release the Epstein files, Trump responded, "I don’t think – I mean, I’m not involved... I never went to his island, fortunately, but a lot of people did."

As the story unfolds, the task force's findings and the potential release of Epstein's client list could have significant implications, shedding light on the hidden corners of federal secrecy and potentially revealing the involvement of high-profile individuals in Epstein's notorious activities.
