In a recent development, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), a prominent figure in the latest wave of the Resistance™ movement, was publicly challenged.

Raskin, known for his vocal and often extreme criticism of Elon Musk's efforts to eliminate waste, fraud, and inefficiencies in federal institutions, was called out during a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Tuesday.

According to RedState, Raskin has previously made outlandish suggestions, such as accusing Musk of attempting a "coup" and even discussing the possibility of "impeaching" him. Raskin's track record also includes leading the House Democrat's impeachment effort against President Trump during the J6 era and attempting to halt his election certification in 2017.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust convened a hearing titled "Reining in the Administrative State: Regulatory and Administrative Law Reform." The hearing aimed to provide members with an opportunity to discuss concerns about the administrative state, focusing on agency rulemaking procedures and agencies' internal adjudication. However, Raskin and other Democrat members of the committee attempted to shift the focus onto Musk.

This deviation from the hearing's intended purpose was met with strong objection from one of the witnesses, author and entrepreneur Magatte Wade. Wade, a Senegal-born woman who moved to America in 1998 and became a citizen in 2018, has first-hand experience with the detrimental effects of overregulation on individuals and nations.

Wade, who now operates a business in Texas after trying her luck in California and New York, arrived at the hearing with a prepared statement. However, she deviated from her prepared remarks to address Raskin's conduct at the hearing.

"Mr. Raskin, your words earlier really, really worried me, and I will tell you why. When you say we are here and we should be here to talk about Mr. Elon Musk and all the 'unconstitutional' things that he’s doing, and you said we shouldn’t be here to talk about regulation or anything like that. First of all, I want to say, then why did you have me here?" Wade asked.

She continued, "As an entrepreneur, my time is valuable. I came here because I thought we were going to talk about the regulatory state and why it matters. So, you need to make up your mind on that. I’m deeply offended by what you said there."

Wade further emphasized the dangers of overregulation, drawing from her experiences in Africa. "Because where I come from, the overregulation causes us to be where we are. My continent, Africa, is the poorest region in the world today because it happens to be the most overregulated region in the world. So, if you don’t see the value of [reining in] overregulation, if you need and want to wait until this country becomes like most African countries - I don’t know. I love this country and I don’t want to see it go down there."

Following her testimony, Wade expressed her pride in standing up to the pro-regulation Democrats on the committee via Twitter.
