In a recent encounter with a CNN host, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, defended the work of Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in their mission to streamline the federal government and eliminate fraud.

As reported by Gateway Pundit, President Trump appointed Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy (who has since departed) to lead DOGE last November. Their mandate was clear: to root out fraud within the government and to close down ineffective programs. "This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!" Musk had stated at the time.

The impact of DOGE's work has been significant. In less than a month, the department has identified hundreds of billions in government waste, fraud, and abuse. They have also initiated the process of closing down agencies such as USAID, which have been accused of misappropriating taxpayer funds and enriching Deep State bureaucrats.

During a recent interview on CNN’s State of the Union, host Dana Bash expressed concern over Musk's access to Americans' personal data, insinuating without evidence that he might misuse this information. "Have you authorized Elon Musk and his team to have access to Americans’ personal data that is housed inside DHS?" Bash asked.

Noem, however, did not succumb to Bash's loaded question. "We are working at the president’s direction to find out what we can do to make our department much more efficient," she responded. "This is essentially an audit of the federal government which needs to happen."

Noem further explained that she had requested the authority to reprogram funds from the Senate and the House appropriators. Despite Bash's continued concerns about Musk's access to personal data, Noem reiterated that the data was being used to identify waste, fraud, and abuse, not for personal scrutiny.

"Elon Musk is part of the administration that is helping us identify where we can find savings and what we can do, and he has gone through the processes to make sure that he has the authority president has appointed him," Noem clarified. "The work that he is doing by identifying waste, fraud and abuse. This information that he has is looking at programs, not focusing on personal data and information, not focusing on it."

Following the interview, Noem took to social media to further address the issue of data privacy and security leaks. She accused the Biden administration of exposing her family's personal information, describing it as a "blatant act of political weaponization."

"President Trump and I have both been targeted, our private data leaked while the legacy media looked the other way. The Trump administration takes these threats seriously," she wrote. "Biden’s team, meanwhile, selectively leaked sensitive information for political gain. It’s un-American, and I assure you, it won’t happen on my watch."

Noem's commitment to the integrity of the federal government and the protection of personal data is clear. As DOGE continues its work, the hope is that the federal government will become more efficient, transparent, and accountable to the American people.
