In a significant development earlier this month, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers apprehended an illegal alien involved in drug smuggling in Cameron County.

The suspect was found with 50 pounds of narcotics, a substantial haul that underscores the ongoing challenges at the border. The arrest was a joint effort by the DPS brush team and the Border Patrol, who tracked down the individual. According to DPS sources, the suspect is allegedly linked to the notorious Gulf Cartel and now faces potential felony charges related to smuggling and drug possession.

As reported by Gateway Pundit, Texas has witnessed a notable reduction in border crossings since President Trump resumed office on January 20th. Data from the Texas DPS highlights that on February 7th alone, there were 289 recorded border crossings in the southwest region. This marks a significant decline from the previous administration's numbers. Border Czar Tom Homan, in a conversation with Charlie Kirk, elaborated on this dramatic decrease, noting that crossings have plummeted from approximately 11,000 per day to just under 450 daily within the first 18 days of President Trump's tenure. "Give us a status report so far of how your operations are going?" Kirk inquired. Homan responded, "We are at about 12,000 criminal arrests in the interior of the United States. Vast majority of them being public safety threats." He further emphasized, "I looked at the border numbers yesterday. Total border crossings 446. 446! I haven’t seen that number forever. Remember not too long ago we were dealing with 11,000 a day under Joe Biden."

President Trump's administration has been steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding American citizens from illegal immigration and ensuring the deportation of those who enter the country unlawfully. This aligns with Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution, which mandates the federal government to protect the nation's borders. The Constitution states, "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."
