The Wall Street Journal has brought to light a series of troubling social media posts linked to Marko Elez, a staff member at the Department of the Treasury's Office of Domestic Finance (DOGE).

This revelation comes on the heels of Elez receiving approval from a federal judge to access the U.S. Treasury's payment system, albeit with restrictions on data sharing, as reported by NBC News.

According to Breitbart, the Wall Street Journal's investigation connected the 25-year-old Elez to a now-deleted social media account on X, Elon Musk's platform, which was taken down in December of the previous year. The posts from this account contained racially charged messages. The Journal noted, "The deleted @nullllptr account previously went by the username @marko_elez, a review of archived posts shows." Furthermore, the account's user claimed to be employed at SpaceX and Starlink, aligning with Elez's professional history, as evidenced by archives from his personal website.

Among the posts, one criticized interracial marriage, stating, "You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity," while another provocatively suggested to "normalize Indian hate." In response to a discussion about Indian professionals in Silicon Valley, the account posted, "Normalize Indian hate." Additionally, a post from July of the same year brazenly declared, "Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool." In a particularly alarming post from June, the user expressed a desire for ethnic cleansing, saying, "I would not mind at all if Gaza and Israel were both wiped off the face of the Earth."

Following inquiries from the Wall Street Journal regarding the account, Elez resigned from his position, as confirmed by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt. This development raises questions about the vetting processes for individuals granted access to sensitive government systems and the broader implications of their personal beliefs on their professional responsibilities.
