President Donald Trump recently hinted at grand plans to commemorate America's 250th birthday in 2026, with his proposed National Garden of Heroes taking center stage.

Trump, a seasoned real estate mogul, has long harbored the idea of a national park adorned with statues of eminent Americans. However, to bring this vision to life, he requires the financial backing of Congress.

According to the Daily Mail, Trump addressed lawmakers at the Capitol during the National Prayer Breakfast, where he advocated for his project, linking it to the upcoming milestone in America's history. "We're going to be honoring our heroes, honoring the greatest people from our country. We're not going to be tearing down. We're going to be building up," Trump declared. He even playfully suggested that some of the lawmakers present might find themselves immortalized in the park, eliciting laughter from the audience.

Trump's vision for the garden is ambitious and inclusive, with plans to feature a diverse array of Americans. The roster includes historical figures like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Frederick Douglass, and Martin Luther King Jr. However, Trump has also added a sprinkle of modern-day celebrities to the mix, such as basketball legend Kobe Bryant, renowned chef Julia Child, iconic singer Whitney Houston, and beloved television host Alex Trebek.

The project, estimated to cost around $120 million, was initially proposed during Trump's first term but was overturned by Joe Biden in May 2021. Congress never allocated funds for the original garden project, so it would need to appropriate the money. The location for this national park is yet to be determined.

During the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump also shared personal insights into his faith journey, particularly highlighting how a previous assassination attempt had profoundly impacted him. He recounted the incident on July 13, 2024, when he was shot and wounded in his ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. "Immigration saved my life," Trump quipped, referring to the moment he turned to point at a chart displaying the latest immigration numbers in the United States, which inadvertently saved him from a more severe injury.
