President Donald Trump is set to make history by attending the Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, marking the first time a sitting President will witness America's most celebrated sporting event in person.

This year's showdown features the Kansas City Chiefs, the 2024 champions, facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles.

As reported by The Post Millennial, the news of Trump's attendance was initially disclosed by Punchbowl News and later corroborated by federal law enforcement sources to the New York Post. The game, hosted at New Orleans' Caesar’s Superdome, comes on the heels of a tragic terrorist attack on Bourbon Street, which claimed 14 lives and left many injured. This incident necessitates heightened security measures for the event.

While Trump will be the first sitting President to attend the Super Bowl, several vice presidents have graced the event in the past. Notably, Spiro Agnew attended in 1971 in Miami, George HW Bush in 1982 in Michigan, and Al Gore in 1994 in Atlanta. Former President Bush also participated in the coin toss at Super Bowl XXXVI. Additionally, Ronald Reagan's second inauguration coincided with Super Bowl Sunday on January 20, 1985, during which he conducted the coin toss via satellite from the Oval Office.

The recent attack in New Orleans was perpetrated by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who drove an electric Ford pickup truck into a crowd, resulting in the deaths of 14 individuals and injuring many more. The FBI revealed that Jabbar had been "inspired" by ISIS, having joined the terrorist group "before this summer." An ISIS flag was discovered in his vehicle. Prior to the attack, Jabbar had informed his Houston neighbors of his relocation to New Orleans for a purported job opportunity.
