In a shocking revelation, it has been discovered that a staggering sum of $1.3 billion in taxpayer funds from the Biden administration inadvertently aided groups associated with terrorism.

According to the Daily Caller, this alarming trend was largely a result of the reversal of policies implemented during the Trump era. The funds were reportedly channeled into a network of terrorism in the Muslim world, raising serious concerns about the implications for national security.

Bill Roggio, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, expressed his concern about this development. "We should not be putting money into any country or areas where a terrorist group remains in control," he stated. Roggio further explained that "aid, like money, is fungible," and warned that such funds could inadvertently support these groups, allowing them to invest in their terrorist activities.

In response to these concerns, the State Department assured that "national security is and will remain a top priority." This statement was made following President Donald Trump's announcement of a reevaluation of foreign aid programs. The department further clarified that the review was a measure to align their work with the America First agenda and promised transparency in communicating the results.

In a significant move, Trump placed numerous senior officials from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on leave. This agency was responsible for funding to Afghanistan, which was misappropriated by the Taliban during Biden's tenure. The Trump administration is considering dissolving USAID altogether, following the closure of its headquarters.

A significant portion of the funds linked to terrorism during the Biden era was directed towards Palestinian organizations. The Biden administration provided over $1 billion to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), an organization that purports to assist Palestinian civilians affected by war but has been linked to terrorists fighting Israel. This funding was reinstated after Biden reversed a Trump-era ban on UNRWA funding in 2021. However, the ban was reinstated after Israeli intelligence accused UNWRA workers of participating in Hamas's attacks in October 2023.

Further investigations revealed that approximately 10% of UNRWA employees were linked to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. This information was obtained from documents found on deceased terrorists and other evidence. A report from UN Watch in March 2023 also found that UNRWA's curriculum for Palestinian children glorified terrorists and martyrdom.

The Palestinian Authority (PA), a governing body in the West Bank, also profited from Biden's presidency despite its program that rewards Palestinians and their families for acts of terror against Jews. The Biden administration partially revived the economic support fund that Trump's law restricts, claiming that "most" of the money did not "directly benefit the PA" in violation of the law. However, $265 million was sent directly to the PA for its "security forces and justice sector institutions" throughout Biden's presidency.

Roggio criticized the PA's lack of commitment to providing security in the West Bank. "Until it's willing to do that, I wouldn't fund them," he stated. A conservative group has since sued Biden and former Secretary of State Antony Blinken on behalf of terror victims, alleging they broke Trump’s 2018 law by funding the PA.

The remaining funds from the Biden era that bolstered terrorism were seized by the Taliban after it reclaimed Afghanistan in August 2021. The U.S. government’s Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) highlighted increasing security issues as Biden continued funding humanitarian efforts for Afghans under the brutal Islamic regime.

SIGAR reported that the Taliban likely gained access to approximately $57.6 million meant for the former Afghan government. Additionally, U.S.-backed humanitarian groups paid at least $10.9 million of U.S. taxpayer money in taxes and other fees to the Taliban. The total amount that UNRWA, the Palestinian Authority, and the Taliban received under Biden is estimated at $1,386,900,000.

Republican Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has been trying to prevent the U.S. from enriching the Taliban for years. He criticized the vulnerabilities of aid programs, stating that the U.S. has effectively been "on both sides" of wars in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Burchett has proposed legislation that would require the State Department to implement stricter procedures and oversight of its Afghanistan funds.

Michael Rubin, a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, proposed holding those disbursing U.S. funds accountable for their decisions. "If the money goes to terror proxies, then they should face penalties for negligence or even prosecution for terror finance," he stated.

The Daily Caller’s analysis does not account for reported instances of Hamas fighters stealing humanitarian aid shipments funded by Americans. Republican lawmakers have repeatedly expressed frustration over the lack of answers from Biden’s USAID, which is now under threat of closure. Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas criticized USAID officials for their lack of accountability, stating, "The American people deserve to know where their hard-earned dollars are going and spending must be aligned with what is best for our country."

Despite the challenges and controversies, it is crucial to remember the importance of aid and its potential to make a positive impact when properly managed. As the debate continues, it is clear that more stringent oversight and accountability are needed to ensure that taxpayer funds are used effectively and ethically.
