A newly established advocacy group, closely aligned with former President Donald Trump, has set its sights on persuading Republican senators who remain undecided about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination as Health and Human Services Secretary.

The Patient First Coalition (PFC), a nonprofit organization that emerged last week, is spearheading what it describes as an extensive grassroots campaign to rally support for Kennedy. Known for his skepticism towards vaccines and his environmental activism, Kennedy previously pursued a presidential bid in 2024 before withdrawing and endorsing Trump.

As reported by Fox News, Kennedy recently navigated a series of contentious Senate confirmation hearings. During these sessions, Trump's nominee for the leadership of 18 influential federal agencies, responsible for overseeing the nation's food and health sectors, faced intense scrutiny. The hearings were marked by heated exchanges over Kennedy's controversial past remarks, particularly his debunked claims linking vaccines to autism. Despite the scientific consensus refuting these assertions, Kennedy's nomination remains a point of contention.

The PFC, which describes itself as a coalition of organizations dedicated to advancing Kennedy's "Make America Healthy Again" agenda, is intensifying its efforts ahead of a crucial Senate Finance Committee vote scheduled for Tuesday. "All uncommitted Republican Senators will be targeted in this grassroots effort," the group emphasized.

Shannon Burns, a senior advisor for the PFC, elaborated on the group's strategy, stating, "Our grassroots phase will include television, radio, and podcast interviews with our advisory board members, as well as guest columns in newspapers across the country." Burns further explained, "We will enable thousands of calls and emails into Senate offices from millions of Americans who support this agenda. We want to organize them, mobilize them, and make sure their voices are heard before the Senate votes."

The PFC's initial focus will be on Republican senators from Louisiana, Maine, Alaska, Kentucky, and North Carolina. These states are represented by key figures such as Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, who chairs the Senate Health Committee, and Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, both of whom have frequently clashed with Trump. Additionally, Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the former Senate Republican leader, and Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina are also in the spotlight.

During the confirmation hearings, Sen. Cassidy expressed his concerns to Kennedy, stating, "Your past of undermining confidence in vaccines with unfounded or misleading arguments concerns me." This sentiment underscores the challenges Kennedy faces in securing confirmation.

The PFC is among several external groups exerting pressure on GOP senators to confirm Trump's nominees. A source within Trump's political circle indicated to Fox News that these groups might "exact consequences" on Republican senators who fail to support the president's Cabinet selections. In a recent social media post, Trump urged Senate Republicans to "GET TOUGH VERY FAST" in confirming the remainder of his Cabinet, signaling the high stakes involved in this political maneuvering.
