According to Gateway Pundit, Trump's intentions have provoked a fiery response from a Danish Member of the European Parliament (MEP), who issued a profanity-laden warning to the President. Trump's insistence on the United States acquiring Greenland, currently an autonomous territory of NATO and EU member Denmark, has been met with fierce opposition.
Anders Vistisen, a right-wing MEP, addressed Trump directly, stating, "Dear President Trump, listen very carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years [sic]. It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale." He further emphasized his point with a vulgar expletive, telling Trump to "[F*ck] off."

This outburst has drawn criticism from EU officials, who have warned of potential repercussions for Vistisen's crude language. The MEP revealed that the European Parliament threatened to fine him for his explicit speech. In a defiant response, Vistisen posted on social media, "Fines if you tell the truth about foreigners and crime! Fines if you tell the truth about the Greenlanders! Fines if you tell the truth to Trump!" He further argued that Greenland has been a sovereign territory of Denmark for "more [than] double the time the US has existed," and called any attempt to seize it an "unacceptable attack on national sovereignty."

Trump, undeterred by the backlash, reiterated his stance on Greenland's strategic importance for "international security" upon his return to the Oval Office. He expressed optimism that Denmark would eventually acquiesce, citing the financial burden of maintaining the territory. "Greenland is a wonderful place. We need it for international security. And I’m sure that Denmark will come along — it’s costing them a lot of money to maintain it, to keep it," the Republican leader said.

In a symbolic gesture, the Danish king even altered the royal coat of arms to highlight Greenland more prominently. Anitta Hipper, a spokesperson for the Commission, emphasized the importance of respecting state sovereignty. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot echoed this sentiment, asserting that the EU would not tolerate any attacks on its sovereign borders. He warned that while he did not believe the US would invade Greenland, the world is witnessing a resurgence of might-is-right politics. He urged Europe to "wake up" to this reality and strengthen its defenses.

Despite being geographically part of the American continent, Greenland has been politically tied to Norway and Denmark since the 9th Century. As the world watches the unfolding drama, the question remains: will Trump's audacious plans for Greenland materialize, or will they remain a point of contention in international politics?
