On President Trump's inaugural full day in office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended 308 illegal migrants, including individuals charged with heinous crimes such as murder and child rape.

This development was disclosed by border czar Tom Homan, who underscored the administration's commitment to addressing illegal immigration.

As reported by The New York Post, Homan highlighted that immigration officers have initiated the arrest of illegal migrants deemed threats to "public safety," a group estimated to number 700,000 nationwide. "ICE is doing their job," Homan affirmed, emphasizing the agency's dedication to its mission. He further pledged to resume immigration raids under President Trump, extending these efforts to sanctuary cities that have previously resisted federal immigration enforcement.

In a prior conversation with The Post, Homan stressed the federal government's resolve to act independently of sanctuary city and state leaders. He stated, "wait ’til they get out of jail, then we’ll go out into the neighborhoods and get them." ICE officers have reportedly compiled a "target sheet" identifying illegal migrants with criminal records for arrest and deportation. Homan explained, "So, they’re out there right now looking for the most serious public safety threats and throughout the country, we’re putting them back to work."

Simultaneously, the Trump administration is implementing strategies to fortify the southern border against illegal crossings. According to Homeland Security sources, border agents are now prohibited from releasing illegal migrants into the U.S., instead mandating their detention and deportation. Additionally, Fox News reported that the administration plans to deploy 1,500 more active-duty troops to bolster border security efforts. These measures reflect a robust approach to safeguarding national borders and upholding the rule of law.
