President Joe Biden's tenure appears to be concluding on a dismal note, with a disapproval rating that rivals that of Canada's Justin Trudeau, according to a recent national Marquette Law School poll.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump's approval rating is soaring, reaching its highest point since the poll began tracking American sentiment in March.

As reported by The Blaze, the poll, conducted from December 2 to 11, revealed a significant drop in Biden's approval rating from 38% in October to 34% in December. Concurrently, his disapproval rating escalated from 62% to 66%. The only time Biden came close to such a high disapproval rating was in July, after his removal as the Democratic presidential candidate, when it hit 65%.

In contrast, FiveThirtyEight's polling average currently places Biden's approval rating slightly higher at 37.2%. The highest job approval rating Biden has ever achieved, according to Gallup, was 57% during the initial months of his presidency.

The poll also highlighted a controversial decision by Biden that may have contributed to his plummeting approval rating. When asked about Biden's decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, who was convicted on federal charges for illegal firearm purchase and pleaded guilty to tax evasion, a staggering 71% of respondents disapproved. While 53% of Democrats supported the pardon, a vast majority of independents (77%) and Republicans (92%) expressed their disapproval.

The state of the economy also seems to have influenced public perception of Biden. Only 4% of respondents rated the economy as excellent, while 25% considered it good. However, a significant portion, 50%, deemed the economy not so good, and 21% rated it as poor. Democrats appeared to hold a more optimistic view, with 51% rating the economy as good or excellent.

In contrast, Trump's approval rating has been on an upward trajectory. In March, 49% of respondents approved of his performance as president. This figure rose to 53% in the latest poll. His favorability rating also improved, rising from 32% in November 2021 to 49%.

Biden's favorability rating, however, stands at a low 37%, with 62% of respondents viewing him unfavorably. This is a significant drop from his November 2021 favorability rating of 45%.

The poll also provided insight into public support for Trump's proposed policies and initiatives. While there is skepticism about his proposed tariffs, a majority of respondents supported several of his other proposals. These included deporting illegal aliens (64%), requiring transgender athletes to compete on teams matching their biological sex (76%), increasing production of American oil and gas (74%), upholding parents' rights to make medical decisions for their children (68%), banning hormone therapy and sex-change procedures for minors (61%), and cutting taxes even if it results in a higher federal deficit (60%).

These findings underscore the public's growing dissatisfaction with Biden's leadership and their inclination towards conservative policies. As Biden's tenure draws to a close, it is clear that his legacy is marred by high disapproval ratings and controversial decisions. On the other hand, Trump's rising approval and favorability ratings suggest a renewed public confidence in conservative leadership and policies.
