The 72-year-old Weinstein will remain under medical supervision until his health stabilizes, according to his attorney, Imran Ansari.
As reported by The New York Post, Ansari has expressed concern over Weinstein's health, stating that his client is "suffering from a lack of adequate medical care and enduring deplorable and inhumane conditions on Rikers Island." He further revealed that Weinstein has been transported to Bellevue Hospital due to an urgent need for medical attention, triggered by a concerning blood test result.
Weinstein, currently held at Rikers Island, is awaiting a new trial on sex assault charges. His health has been a matter of public concern, with multiple hospitalizations in recent months due to a range of serious ailments. These include emergency heart surgery, diabetes, spinal stenosis, and a recent cancer diagnosis.

The former film titan's legal team and representatives have previously criticized his medical care while in custody. Last week, they lodged a $5 million legal claim against New York City for alleged medical negligence. Weinstein's spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, stated, “Mr Weinstein, who is suffering from a number of illnesses, including leukemia, has been deprived the medical attention that someone in his medical state deserves, prisoner or not.” Engelmayer further argued that this treatment amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment."

Ansari echoed these sentiments, asserting that Weinstein's lack of care constitutes "medical malpractice" and a "violation of his constitutional rights." In the recent legal claim, which is a precursor to a lawsuit, Weinstein contended that the city's refusal to provide him ongoing treatment at Bellevue could hinder his ability to attend his own trials.
