The sheriff has been known for his stringent enforcement of Covid social distancing rules, as evidenced by his arrest of a Christian pastor who violated these rules during the early stages of the pandemic. Chronister announced the arrest on Twitter, stating, “Announcing the arrest of Dr. Ronald Howard-Browne, Pastor of The River at Tampa Bay Church, who intentionally and repeatedly disregarded state and local public health orders, which put his congregation and our community in danger.”
