Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has taken to social media to voice his concerns over defense spending, aligning his views with those of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

In a recent post, Sanders echoed Musk's sentiments, stating, “Elon Musk is right. The Pentagon, with a budget of $886 billion, just failed its 7th audit in a row. It’s lost track of billions. Last year, only 13 senators voted against the Military Industrial Complex and a defense budget full of waste and fraud. That must change.”

According to The Post Millennial, Musk has been a vocal advocate for significant reductions in government spending. Sanders, known for his progressive stance, surprisingly concurred with Musk's call for fiscal responsibility, expressing hope that these cuts would extend to defense spending. This alignment underscores the bipartisan concern over government waste, a topic that resonates with conservative values of limited government and fiscal prudence.

The Pentagon's financial management has been under scrutiny for years, with the Department of Defense failing to account for 60 percent of its assets in 2022. This inability to balance its budget is a clear indication of the need for a more stringent approach to government spending, a sentiment shared by both Sanders and Musk.

Interestingly, this is not the first instance where Sanders has publicly agreed with Musk. In a previous Senate session, Sanders referenced Musk's comments on obesity, stating, “Elon Musk, not one of my great political allies, recently posted on Twitter 'solving obesity greatly reduces risks of other diseases, especially diabetes, and improves quality of life. We do need to find a way to make appetite inhibitors available to anyone who wants them.' Mr. Musk is right."

This unexpected alignment of views between Sanders and Musk, two figures from seemingly opposite ends of the political and economic spectrum, underscores the universal importance of fiscal responsibility and health awareness. It also highlights the potential for bipartisan cooperation in addressing these critical issues.
