In a recent appearance on CNN, Andrew McCabe, the former FBI head known for his strong opposition to Donald Trump, inadvertently gave his endorsement to Kash Patel for the position of FBI Director.

McCabe's criticism of Patel's nomination, which he described as "terrible" for those currently serving in the Bureau, was reported by Gateway Pundit.

The nomination of Patel, a former counter-terrorism official under President Trump, was announced on Saturday evening via a post on Truth Social. Trump expressed his confidence in Patel's ability to curb the escalating crime wave in America, dismantle criminal migrant gangs, and halt the nefarious spread of human and drug trafficking across the border.

In his critique of Patel's nomination, McCabe suggested that the move could only be interpreted as a strategy to disrupt, dismantle, and distract the FBI, potentially using it as a tool for the President's political agenda. This critique, as reported by Gateway Pundit, seems to overlook the need for some disruption and restructuring within the FBI's current operations. If such changes are seen as using the FBI for political purposes, then it could be argued that Trump's agenda is indeed 'America First.'

McCabe's fear is that Trump and Patel will revert the FBI to its pre-Watergate era, using its legal and investigative authorities to "terrorize and intimidate Americans." He conveniently forgets the peaceful January 6 protestors, pro-lifers, Catholics, concerned parents, and the Trump family, who have all been targeted and intimidated by Biden's FBI.

Interestingly, McCabe has previously expressed dissatisfaction with Joe Biden's approach to Trump supporters, whom he labeled as “a clear and present danger to our democracy.” He has also dismissed Patel as "profoundly unqualified" for the position, while ignoring Patel's impressive credentials, which include several high-ranking roles in the intelligence and defense communities under President Trump.

During his tenure as a counter-terrorism official under Trump, Patel played a crucial role in efforts to eliminate ISIS senior leadership and other key operatives. He also oversaw the rescue of American hostages and detainees, ensuring their safe return to the United States. As a terrorism prosecutor, Patel prosecuted ISIS, Al-Qa’ida, and other terrorist networks, and was the lead prosecutor for the World Cup bombings in Uganda that claimed the lives of an American and 76 others. While serving as the Department of Defense Chief of Staff, he played a part in ending the so-called 'forever wars.'

McCabe's real concern seems to be that Patel will return the FBI to its original mission of investigating and prosecuting genuine criminals and criminal organizations, thereby ending the misuse of the FBI to target innocent Americans.

It's worth noting that McCabe, a vocal critic of Trump, has previously suggested that some FBI agents might need to flee the country to avoid detention, as reported by Gateway Pundit.

In his CNN appearance, McCabe expressed his concern for the future of the FBI and the nation, stating, "The fact that Kash Patel is profoundly unqualified for this job is not even like a matter for debate." He further questioned what Patel's nomination signals about Trump's intentions for the FBI, suggesting that it could be a plan to disrupt, dismantle, and distract the Bureau, and possibly use it as a tool for the President's political agenda.

McCabe's fear is that the nomination of Patel could signal a return to the pre-Watergate era, where the FBI was used to collect political intelligence and intimidate Americans. However, it could be argued that Patel, with his impressive track record in counter-terrorism and prosecution, is the ideal candidate to restore the FBI to its original purpose, if that is indeed Trump's intent.
