Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted accomplice in the notorious Jeffrey Epstein child sex trafficking case, is reportedly enduring a Thanksgiving devoid of food as the Florida prison where she is serving her 20-year sentence faces a financial crisis.

Maxwell, 62, along with other inmates at FCI Tallahassee, are allegedly suffering from hunger due to the institution's inability to provide adequate meals.

According to the Daily Mail, an insider revealed, "This has been going on since last week. The inmates have been told the Bureau of Prisons has run out of money and Ghislaine and the others have been left starving." The source further disclosed that meal portions have been drastically reduced, and Maxwell, who follows a vegetarian diet, has not received food for five days. "She and the others are going hungry," the source added.

In addition to the food shortage, the prison is also reportedly unable to afford essential medications for the inmates. "The prisoners who need medication, everything from chemotherapy drugs to blood pressure medication, were pulled to one side and told there isn’t money for the drugs. It’s insane," said another individual familiar with the situation.

This week, Maxwell suffered another legal setback when she lost the latest round of her appeal against her December 2021 conviction for her role in sexually exploiting multiple underage girls alongside Epstein. Despite her conviction, Maxwell has consistently denied the charges. In a jailhouse interview with international journalist Daphne Barak for The Mail on Sunday, Maxwell expressed regret over her association with Epstein, calling it "the greatest mistake of my life." She added, "I didn’t know that he was so awful. I mean, obviously now, looking back with hindsight, of course."

Maxwell's legal team is reportedly planning to take her case to the US Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Epstein, a convicted pedophile, committed suicide in a New York jail in 2019 following his arrest on multiple child sex charges.

A source commented on the dire situation in the prison, stating, "People have no sympathy for prisoners but there is a difference between an inmate serving time for a crime and being inhumanely punished. What is going on in Tallahassee is inhumane."

The conditions at FCI Tallahassee have been under scrutiny for some time. A Department of Justice report last year condemned the prison for its appalling conditions, including moldy food, rat droppings, and rotten vegetables.

The report described the conditions as "alarming," with inmates resorting to using feminine hygiene products to plug leaks in ceilings and windows.

The report detailed, "We observed moldy bread being served as well as discolored and rotting vegetables in a food preparation refrigerator at the female prison. In the food storage warehouses, we found likely evidence of rodent droppings, as well as bags of cereal with insects in them and warped food containers."

The Federal Bureau of Prisons, when asked to comment on the current situation, declined to respond. The plight of Maxwell and her fellow inmates, coupled with the deplorable conditions at FCI Tallahassee, raises serious questions about the state of the American prison system and its ability to uphold basic human rights.
