Vice President Kamala Harris has recently been the subject of a flurry of social media speculation and memes following the release of an unusual video message.

In the video, Harris appears to slur her words and seems somewhat bleary-eyed, leading many to question her sobriety. The video, which was released just before Thanksgiving, features Harris expressing gratitude to her supporters and reminding her campaign staff of their continued influence.

According to the Daily Mail, the video has not only raised eyebrows among social media users, but also among medical professionals. Dr. Carole Lieberman, a psychiatrist with experience working with alcoholics, stated that after viewing the video, she could not definitively rule out the possibility that Harris was under the influence of alcohol. She cited Harris's semi-closed eyes, slightly slurred speech, and exaggerated hand movements as potential indicators of alcohol consumption.

Dr. Stuart Fischer, an emergency medicine doctor based in New York City, echoed these sentiments, suggesting that Harris's head movements also hinted at possible alcohol intake. However, both doctors acknowledged that other factors such as fatigue or embarrassment could also be contributing to Harris's unusual demeanor. They also raised the possibility that Harris's behavior could be a side effect of undisclosed medication.

In the video, Harris is seen in a 13-minute national grassroots call with Tim Walz, thanking campaign staff for their efforts. The video was later posted as a 28-second clip on the Democrats' official page. Dr. Fischer noted that Harris's speech was slightly slurred and her head movements suggested a calming effect of an intoxicant. He also pointed out that Harris took unusually long pauses during which she closed her eyes, a behavior that is not typical as standard blinks only last between 100 to 150 milliseconds.

The doctors also highlighted a moment in the video where Harris held her hands to her chest for six seconds before leaning back in her chair. These slow and delayed movements, coupled with the relaxed positioning of her hands, were interpreted as potential signs of alcohol consumption.

However, body language expert Judi James offered a different perspective, suggesting that Harris's unusual demeanor was an attempt to express genuine human emotion. James argued that Harris was struggling to convey empathy for her supporters and emotion about the loss, rather than exhibiting signs of intoxication.

Harris has faced previous unverified accusations of having a drinking problem, including allegations from Trump 2024 political director James Blair. In late September, a video circulated of Harris appearing to speak slowly at a rally in Atlanta, Georgia, leading to accusations of her being intoxicated. However, subsequent analysis suggested that the video had been edited to make Harris appear inebriated.

The video of Harris's recent call has sparked a range of reactions from social media users. Some questioned the decision to release the video, while others speculated about Harris's sobriety. Despite the speculation, Harris's vice presidential nominee, Tim Walz, expressed his gratitude to the campaign staff in a serious tone, calling it a "privilege of a lifetime."

As the debate continues, it's clear that the video has stirred up controversy and speculation. However, without concrete evidence or confirmation, the claims about Harris's sobriety remain unverified.
