The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a left-leaning organization, has recently set its sights on a Christian satire site, The Babylon Bee.

Known for its relentless humor aimed at the radical left, The Babylon Bee has become a leading example of political satire on the internet. The site also features a non-satire division, fittingly named Not the Bee.

According to Western Journal, the SPLC has targeted the writers of Not the Bee in a doxing effort. Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, stated that an SPLC journalist managed to uncover the identities of various anonymous writers for Not the Bee and proceeded to contact them directly. Dillon expressed his concern over the matter, stating, “We’re determining how they obtained this information, but we already know why they went digging for it. They did it because they’re left-wing activists masquerading as journalists. They did it because they lack principles.”

Dillon further criticized the SPLC for their actions, describing them as “vindictive bullies who’ve admitted their aim is to ‘completely destroy’ individuals and organizations they disagree with by making them pay a steep price for speaking freely.” While Dillon acknowledged that being a public figure often invites criticism, he firmly condemned the doxing and smearing of his staff for expressing views that the SPLC finds disagreeable.

The non-satire division of The Babylon Bee subsequently published an article detailing the doxing incident. The article, published on November 20, revealed that the SPLC had disclosed the names, family relationships, and locations of the targeted writers.

In a statement to USA Today, the SPLC justified its actions by stating its commitment to transparency and the protection of trans and genderqueer individuals from public attacks. The organization accused the writers of Not the Bee of creating content that dehumanizes transgender individuals, the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, and people of color, asserting that such divisive commentary has no place in society.

In response to the SPLC's comments, Not the Bee's November 20 article challenged the organization's stance. The article's writer pointed out that the majority of Americans recently voted for the enforcement of border laws, the removal of gender-related religious material from schools, and the limitation of doctors' ability to sterilize children. The writer questioned whether the SPLC was implying that the majority of Americans have "no place in our society."
