In a tragic incident in San Diego, Antonio Pascual Mateo, a young man of 24 years, lost his life to electrocution while hanging Christmas lights over a high voltage power line.

The San Diego Medical Examiner's office has confirmed the unfortunate demise. Fire crews were unable to attempt a rescue until the power in the vicinity was disconnected, leaving Mateo suspended upside down in the tree.

As reported by the Daily Caller, the Escondido Battalion Chief, who was present at the scene, stated, "First unit arrived on scene and found a worker suspended in the air via a waist harness. It appeared that he had come in contact with some high-power tension lines." This statement paints a grim picture of the circumstances surrounding Mateo's tragic death.

In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, Mateo's family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses. They shared, "He was a brother, a son and an uncle. His name was Antonio Pascual. He had so much to live, only 24 years old. He had been working on putting up Christmas lights around the tree." The family further recounted the horrifying incident, "Sadly he was electrocuted by the power lines, as he was fixing the Christmas lights. He fell down and stayed in the tree, trapped for an hour."
