Rudy Giuliani, a staunch ally of President-elect Donald Trump, has been denied his request to reschedule an upcoming trial so that he can attend Trump's inauguration in Washington.

Giuliani, who is currently entangled in a defamation lawsuit involving two Georgia election workers, was informed by Judge Lewis Liman that his "social calendar" did not justify altering the trial date.

As reported by Newsweek, Giuliani's attorney, Joseph M. Cammarata, argued before Judge Liman, the US District judge presiding over the case in Manhattan, that his client, as an advisor to the President-elect, should be present at the inauguration events scheduled for January 20. This plea was made during a contentious hearing where Giuliani, a long-standing Trump ally, seemed to lose his composure when questioned about his failure to provide the title for a car he is required to surrender as part of a $148 million defamation judgment.

Judge Liman, addressing Giuliani's attorney, expressed skepticism that his client was unable to secure a duplicate title for the car. Giuliani reportedly interjected, "The implication I've been not diligent about it is totally incorrect. The implication you make against me and every implication against me is wrong." He continued, "I'm not impoverished. Everything I have is tied up. I don't have a car. I don't have a credit card. I don't have cash. I can't get to bank accounts that truly would be mine because they have put ... stop orders on, for example, my Social Security account, which they have no right to do."

Jane Rosenberg, a courthouse sketch artist, told CNN, "He was wild . . . I feel bad for anyone who represents him. He blurts out orders at his lawyers or at the podium and, you know, he's interrupting all the time."

Giuliani has been ordered to pay Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss $11 million in assets as an initial payment after the court ruled that he had spread conspiracy theories about ballot tampering following Trump's loss in the 2020 election. The assets he must relinquish include his vintage Mercedes, luxury watches, and the keys to his New York City apartment.

Among the assets Giuliani is striving to shield from confiscation under Liman's order, which mandates him to surrender numerous valued possessions to the poll workers, are a Florida residence and World Series rings.

Outside the courtroom, Giuliani accused Liman, who was nominated by Trump to the bench, of being a "serious leftwing Democrat ... about as leftwing as you get." This accusation reflects the ongoing tension between conservative and liberal viewpoints in the American judicial system. Giuliani's case continues to unfold, raising questions about the balance between personal commitments and legal obligations.
