Dana White, the esteemed CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), has declared his intention to step away from the political arena.

In a candid interview with The New Yorker, White expressed his distaste for politics, stating, “I’m never fucking doing this again. I want nothing to do with this shit. It’s gross. It’s disgusting. I want nothing to do with politics.”

White's decision comes after a period of active political engagement, during which he campaigned for his longtime friend, President-elect Donald Trump, in the 2024 election cycle. According to the Daily Caller, White's political involvement was not without its rewards. Trump's recent attendance at UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden was met with enthusiastic chants of “USA, USA!” and a thunderous applause from the crowd.

The event was a star-studded affair, with notable figures such as Eric and Donald Trump Jr., Elon Musk, Kid Rock, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson in attendance.

The bond between Trump and White can be traced back to the early days of the UFC. At a time when the sport was struggling to find venues due to its violent reputation, Trump was one of the few who offered support. His Atlantic City casino became a haven for the UFC, allowing it to host events and subsequently rise in popularity.

White shared with The New Yorker how UFC fans have embraced Trump. “Every time, when he was getting hammered at his worst, we’d walk into that arena and the place erupts and goes crazy,” he said. “It shows other people, Oh, wait. Everybody doesn’t hate Donald Trump like the media is telling us.”

White's support for Trump extended to the Republican National Convention (RNC) in July, where he endorsed the President-elect. Asserting his independence, the UFC CEO stated that he was “nobody’s puppet” when it came to his support for his friend of 25 years.

“I know President Trump as a fighter,” White said at the RNC. “I’m in the tough guy business, and this guy is the toughest, most resilient I’ve seen in my life.”

Despite his admiration for Trump, White has previously stated his belief that Jon Jones is “the greatest fighter to ever live.” This statement serves as a reminder of White's primary focus - the world of UFC and its fighters, rather than the political battleground.
