In December 2023, Governor Stitt, a Republican, issued an executive order stating that higher education institutions could not compel individuals to participate in any form of education that favored one person's race, color, sex, ethnicity, or national origin over another's. However, the University of Oklahoma seems to be flouting this order. According to a class syllabus obtained by the DCNF, the university requires education undergraduates to take a course that implicates white individuals in institutional racism and instructs them to accord preferential treatment to minority students.
A spokesperson for the governor's office expressed concern over this development, stating, "Our universities need to be preparing students for the workforce, not indoctrinating them with liberal ideology." The spokesperson further criticized the mandatory nature of the course and called for a review of the accreditation entities promoting such courses, with the aim of reintroducing common sense into the classroom.

This paper criticizes "neutral" structures like teacher testing, arguing that they reinforce whiteness and white interests.
