According to the BBC, Zelensky did not disclose whether Trump had set forth any conditions concerning potential negotiations with Russia. However, he assured that nothing he heard from the President-elect contradicted Ukraine's stance. Trump has been vocal about his objective to cease the war and halt what he perceives as a drain on US resources, particularly in the form of military aid to Ukraine.

In an interview with Ukrainian media outlet Suspilne, Zelensky stated, “It is certain that the war will end sooner with the policies of the team that will now lead the White House. Despite the challenging circumstances on the battlefield, with Russian forces gaining ground, Zelensky remains hopeful. However, Trump has consistently maintained that he shares a positive rapport with Zelensky.
