Whoopi Goldberg, a prominent figure on "The View," recently alleged that a renowned Staten Island bakery declined to serve her due to her political leanings.

However, the bakery owner has refuted these claims.

As reported by Fox News, the incident unfolded during a recent episode of "The View," where Goldberg and her co-hosts were celebrating her 69th birthday with Charlotte Russe desserts. These treats hold a special place in Goldberg's heart, being a favorite of her mother's. However, Goldberg informed the audience that her birthday order almost didn't materialize, attributing the hiccup to the bakery's alleged disapproval of her left-wing political stance.

"They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them," Goldberg stated. She further clarified that her order wasn't rejected due to her gender, but because "they did not like my politics." Goldberg, a vocal liberal, has been known to refrain from uttering the name of President-elect Trump on air.

Despite the perceived slight, Goldberg urged her audience and co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin to partake in the Charlotte Russe desserts. "But that’s okay because, you know what? Listen, this is my mother’s celebration," Goldberg expressed. "Pick these up and celebrate with me and my mom. Thank you everyone for celebrating my birthday today."

Entertainment Weekly later identified the bakery in question as Holtermann’s Bakery, a 145-year-old family-owned establishment on Staten Island. The identification was based on the distinctive packaging of the Charlotte Russe desserts, which featured pink polka dots on a white paper cup, a signature of the family bakery.

Jill Holtermann, the bakery owner, refuted Goldberg's account of the events. She explained that the bakery's issues were not politically driven but were due to mechanical problems with their boilers, a recurring issue in their 1930-built establishment.

"I said to Whoopi, ‘I can’t do it right now'," Holtermann disclosed. "We have so many things going on with my boiler."

Holtermann confirmed that she eventually managed to produce 50 treats, which were collected early Wednesday morning for "The View's" recording. She emphasized that her initial hesitation to confirm the order was not related to Goldberg’s political views. "I didn’t want to make a commitment that I can’t carry through," she said, citing the existing technical difficulties. Staten Island Live reported that Holtermann's has been "bombarded" with calls since the episode aired. Holtermann's Bakery declined Fox News Digital's request for comment.
