Representatives Brian Mast (R-FL), Mike Waltz (R-FL), and Bill Huizenga (R-MI) have penned a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, demanding an increase in resources for servicemembers.
The letter states, “We urge you to mobilize all the necessary resources over the next seven days to give every American citizen wearing our nation’s uniform the opportunity to vote if they so desire, pursuant to all federal and state regulations governing elections.”
According to RedState, the letter further reveals that some military personnel requested write-in absentee ballots, only to be informed that the Department of Defense under the Biden-Harris administration had run out. The congressmen wrote, “Our nation’s brave men and women in uniform brought to our attention that there has been inadequate education at the administrative level on how to register to vote, request an absentee ballot, and fill in a federal write-in absentee ballot if their state-issued ballot does not arrive in time." They added, "Other service members also stated that when a request for a federal write-in absentee ballot was made, they were told the base’s stockpile of such ballots was depleted and had not been replenished."
TRUMP TRANSITION: WHEN YOU LOSE ALL TRUST IN THE FBI, THIS HAPPENS...
This situation raises serious concerns about disenfranchising voters, particularly those who risk their lives to protect the rights of others. The question arises: if the Pentagon was unable to provide absentee ballots and voting education resources when the letter was sent, what are the chances they will do so with just two days left until Election Day?
WHO IS KASH PATEL AND WHY DID TRUMP PICK HIM TO LEAD THE FBI?
Representative Mast, in a separate statement, criticized the Biden-Harris administration for its apparent lack of commitment to the voting rights of active military members. He said, “They claim to care about democracy and the right to vote, yet they’ve failed to plan accordingly to facilitate the right to vote for every single one of our nation’s brave men and women in uniform. This is absolutely unacceptable." Mast, an Afghanistan war veteran and recipient of a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, added, "Our nation’s elite warriors deserve to have every opportunity to vote for the next commander-in-chief, especially since that person will be making life-and-death decisions for our troops.”

A recent Pew Research Center publication may shed light on why the Pentagon seems to be neglecting voting resources and absentee ballots for the military. The report indicates that military veterans have traditionally supported Republican candidates, particularly for the presidency. The study reveals that military vets favor Donald Trump (R) over Kamala Harris (D) by a significant margin — 61 percent to 37 percent, with most believing that Trump's policies "would make things better for veterans."

A YouGov poll also suggests that active military and veterans are more likely to believe Trump [51 percent] cares significantly about veterans and current service members than Harris [32 percent]. The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) research indicates that the most significant obstacle for military members when it comes to voting is the inability to obtain an absentee ballot and the lack of educational resources on voting procedures.

The situation underscores the importance of ensuring that all citizens, including those in uniform, have the necessary resources to exercise their right to vote. It also raises questions about the commitment of the current administration to uphold this fundamental democratic principle, particularly for those who risk their lives to protect it.
