The lawsuit, filed on Thursday, alleges that the network manipulated a segment on "60 Minutes" to seemingly favor Vice President Kamala Harris, his political adversary.
According to Conservative Daily News, the lawsuit accuses CBS of broadcasting a selectively edited version of Harris's response to a critical question concerning the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. The network allegedly omitted portions of her answer that cast a shadow of doubt over the Biden administration's position on Israel's military actions. The complaint, filed in a federal court in Texas, suggests that CBS engaged in "deliberate deception" by presenting an edited version of the interview that sidestepped what the lawsuit terms a "word salad" of mixed messaging from Harris.
The lawsuit reads, "To paper over Kamala’s ‘word salad’ weakness, CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news." The lawsuit further contends that this alleged edit unjustly bolstered Harris's image as the election day looms. The complaint seeks a jury trial and $10 billion in damages under Texas laws that prohibit deceptive business practices.
