According to The Post Millennial, Walz's trip to China in 1989, ostensibly to teach, was marked by a clandestine relationship with Jenna Wang, the daughter of a high-ranking Communist official. Wang, now 59, alleges that Walz wooed her with gifts and seduced her in his temporary lodgings.
The pair were unable to express their affection publicly due to the potential repercussions from Wang's father, a prominent figure in the Chinese Communist Party. Any public display of their relationship would have led to Wang's disownment. Consequently, their relationship flourished behind closed doors, leading the then 24-year-old Wang to contemplate marriage. However, the societal constraints of the time and the shame of being treated "like a prostitute" led her to thoughts of suicide and burgeoning resentment.

"Tim was very passionate and very romantic. I can still remember dancing with him to our favorite song, Careless Whisper," Wang reminisced. “The fact we couldn't touch or kiss in public just made it all the more exciting and intense when we were finally alone. We were deeply in love and I wanted to marry him and start a family. When it didn't happen, I felt very unhappy and sad. Tim's behavior was very selfish."

Walz, Kamala Harris' choice for VP, has already been the subject of criticism. His alleged relationship with Wang adds another layer to the controversy surrounding his activities in China. Walz has previously asserted in a congressional hearing that he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square Massacre. However, further investigation revealed that he arrived in the country after the events had transpired.

"Tim was very handsome. I loved his eyes and his big mouth. We talked afterwards and he was very complimentary about my English," Wang said of her interaction with Walz. "My colleagues couldn't speak whole sentences but Tim told me that if he closed his eyes and listened it was like being back in America."

"But we talked for hours and hours, we stayed in bed, we had sex. He continued to buy me gifts," Wang said. "I could never stay overnight because of the social conventions. It was very repressive. Couples walked around the city like robots. My father would have been very, very angry and sad if he had found out."
The relationship between Walz and Wang eventually hit a rocky patch. Walz had to return to the US, but kept in touch with Wang through letters, sharing details about his life in America. Wang had hopes of securing a passport and gathered information for Walz to assist her. However, when Walz returned to China in 1992, their relationship began to sour.

Walz's clumsy public romantic gestures and his insinuation that Wang was more interested in a passport than in him led to the relationship's demise. After parting ways with Walz, Wang returned to her previous life, stating, “I never saw Tim again.” The two later exchanged messages over Facebook in 2009, discussing how their lives had unfolded.
Wang, now a mother of one, told the outlet that she is speaking out now because she believes Walz behaved selfishly towards her, “This is a very crucial moment in history and a man like this does not appear to have the character and integrity to do one of the most important jobs in the world.”
The Harris-Walz campaign has yet to respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment. This silence raises questions about the veracity of the allegations and the potential impact on Walz's political career.
