Former President Donald Trump has expressed his ambition to turn the traditionally Democratic state of New York in his favor in the upcoming election.

This aspiration, once considered far-fetched, now seems plausible given the current political climate and Trump's existing support base in the state.

According to Gateway Pundit, recent polls suggest that Vice President Kamala Harris' popularity among New Yorkers is at an all-time low for a Democratic candidate, the lowest it has been in decades. This decline in support for Harris could potentially pave the way for Trump to make a significant impact in New York City, and by extension, the Empire State.

FOX News cites a New York Times/Siena College poll that reveals Harris' polling numbers are the lowest for a Democratic presidential nominee in decades. This poll was released just hours before Trump was scheduled to hold a significant rally at Madison Square Garden, where he was expected to emphasize his intent to compete for the state's 28 electoral college votes.

Despite Harris still leading Trump by 66% to 27% among registered voters, this represents a significant drop compared to President Biden’s 76% to 23% victory over Trump in the city in 2020. If these numbers hold, it would mark the worst performance for a Democratic presidential candidate in New York City since 1988.

The poll also highlighted the economy, immigration, and abortion as the top three issues influencing registered voters. Even if Trump fails to secure New York, the increase in votes could potentially help him win the popular vote.

Adding to Trump's momentum, the New York Post has recently endorsed him. With a rally at Madison Square Garden scheduled for Sunday, the possibility of Trump winning New York could send shockwaves through the Democratic party.
