In the face of mounting criticism from his Democratic peers, Mayor Eric Adams of New York City has taken a stand in defense of former President Donald Trump.

The mayor's comments were made in response to the increasingly hostile rhetoric from Democrats, who have gone as far as to label Trump a "fascist" and draw comparisons between him and Adolf Hitler.

According to Gateway Pundit, Mayor Adams made his remarks while detailing the comprehensive security measures that will be implemented for Trump's eagerly awaited rally at Madison Square Garden, set for Sunday. In a statement, Adams emphasized the New York Police Department's (NYPD) proficiency in securing events of any magnitude.

"Safeguarding events — of any size — is something the NYPD does better than any police department in the nation. Tomorrow, they will put their skill and expertise to work as they secure Madison Square Garden for a rally before the November presidential election," Adams said. He further explained that the security measures would include a significant police presence, street closures, and other less visible but equally effective strategies.

Adams also urged patience from those attending the rally, planning to protest, or simply in the vicinity, as these security measures may cause inconveniences. He encouraged the use of mass transit to navigate around Midtown and reiterated the city's zero-tolerance policy for crime, disorderly behavior, or violence of any kind.

During a press conference, Adams took issue with the inflammatory comparisons of Trump to Adolf Hitler made by Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democrats. "I have had those terms hurled at me by some political leaders in the city, using terms like Hitler and fascist. My answer is no," Adams stated, rejecting the notion of Trump as a fascist.

Adams, who has firsthand knowledge of the atrocities committed by Hitler and the nature of a fascist regime, called for a reduction in the intensity of political discourse. He firmly believes that Trump, like any other American, has the right to freely communicate his message to New Yorkers.

"I’ve heard people say that the former President should not be able to have a rally in Madison Square Garden. I strongly disagree. This is America; this is New York. I think it’s important that we allow individuals to exercise their right to get their message across to New Yorkers. Our job as a city and as a police department is to make sure they can do that in a peaceful way," Adams said.

The mayor also warned about the potential repercussions of the current heated political climate, cautioning that the intensity of pre-election rhetoric could impact future governance. He expressed his disapproval of being labeled a fascist and other derogatory names, and he found it inappropriate to equate the former President with Hitler.

It's worth noting that Trump had previously offered words of encouragement to Adams during the Al Smith dinner earlier this month. Trump said, “Mayor Adams, good luck with everything. They went after you, Mayor. Nine and a half months ago, I said, 'You know, he just said something about the administration; he’s going to be indicted any moment.' And guess what happened? But you’re going to win, I think you’re going to win. I know you’re going to win. Good luck. I don’t like what they do.”

Mayor Adams' defense of Trump and his call for respectful communication underscore the importance of preserving the fundamental American values of free speech and political discourse. His stance serves as a reminder that, regardless of political differences, every American has the right to express their views in a peaceful manner.
