This speculation comes amidst recent polls indicating a lead for the GOP candidate in key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia.
According to The Post Millennial, Johnson voiced his concerns, stating, “Democrats have now made it a tradition to object to electors, certain slates of electors, and they have [done so] every single time a Republican president has won in the last quarter-century.” He further criticized the Democrats for their objections, which he deemed as often baseless, and predicted that many would object to a Trump win, not due to any substantial reasons, but merely because of their personal dislike for him.
The groundwork for these potential objections is already being laid by some Democrats. Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has previously hinted at Congress needing to intervene if Trump is elected. Earlier in October, he stated that he would accept the results if Trump "won a free, fair and honest election," but he "definitely" did not believe that would be the case. Raskin accused Trump of attempting to manipulate the electoral process, whether by interfering with Electoral College counts in Nebraska or the vote count in Georgia.

Other Democrats have also subtly expressed their reluctance to accept a Trump victory. Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA), the ranking member on the House rules committee, stated, “We have to see how it all happens," when asked about the potential acceptance of a Trump win. He further added, “My expectation is that we would, assuming everything goes the way we expect it to.”

Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), who had previously objected to George W. Bush's election, also expressed uncertainty about certifying the results. She stated, "I don't know what kind of shenanigans he is planning," and emphasized the need to ensure that all election rules have been followed.
