Israel's military has made a startling revelation, alleging that Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, has concealed hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold in a bunker beneath a hospital in Beirut.

Despite the discovery, the Israeli military has pledged not to attack the facility, even as it continues its offensive against Hezbollah's financial assets.

According to Reuters, Fadi Alameh, a Lebanese lawmaker from the Shi'ite Amal Movement party and the director of the implicated hospital, Al-Sahel, has vehemently denied these allegations. Alameh has labeled Israel's claims as false and defamatory, urging the Lebanese Army to inspect the hospital and confirm that it houses nothing more than operating rooms, patients, and a morgue. Amidst the controversy, Alameh has confirmed that the hospital is currently being evacuated.

The Israeli military, however, remains resolute in its stance, with Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the chief spokesman, asserting that the information has been gathered over years by Israeli intelligence. The veracity of these claims, however, could not be independently confirmed by Reuters. Hezbollah, on the other hand, has remained silent, with no immediate comment on the allegations.

In a televised statement, Hagari revealed that the bunker was constructed under the direction of Hezbollah's former leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed by Israel last month. The bunker, according to Hagari, was designed for prolonged stays. "There are hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold inside the bunker right now. I'm calling on the Lebanese government, Lebanese authorities, and the international organizations — don't allow Hezbollah to use the money for terror and to attack Israel," Hagari implored.

Despite the alleged presence of such a significant amount of money, Hagari assured that the Israeli air force would not target the hospital itself. "The Israeli air force is monitoring the compound, as you can see. However, we will not strike the hospital itself," he said.

Israeli Chief of the General Staff, Herzi Halevi, informed troops in Lebanon that between Sunday and Monday, aircraft had targeted approximately 30 sites associated with Al-Qard al-Hassan. Israel identifies Al-Qard al-Hassan as Hezbollah's financial arm. Hagari further indicated that more strikes against Hezbollah's financial sites are in the pipeline.

The Israeli military's allegations and its ongoing offensive against Hezbollah's financial assets underscore the complex and volatile nature of the conflict in the Middle East. The situation also raises questions about the role of international organizations and the Lebanese government in curbing Hezbollah's alleged use of the funds for terror activities. The Israeli military's commitment not to strike the hospital, despite its alleged role in Hezbollah's financial operations, reflects a measure of restraint amidst escalating tensions.

The unfolding situation in Lebanon, with its potential implications for regional stability and international security, will undoubtedly continue to command global attention. As the world watches, the onus is on the Lebanese authorities and international organizations to respond to these allegations and take appropriate action. The Israeli military's allegations, if proven true, could significantly alter the dynamics of the conflict and shape future strategies in the fight against terrorism.
